January Frosts The Mimsies...
And They Love It!
Oh, the day began like any other, except there was an exceptional chill in the air. The Mimsy Dolls awoke to the wonderful smells of breakfast and quickly got out of bed. Looking out the quaint windows of their upstairs bedrooms, they saw.,....."SSSSNNNNOOOOWWWW!!!" Fresh and still falling SNOW! Oh, how they could not wait to dress, eat breakfast (Boy, does it smell good!), finish their morning chores, and then.......GET OUTSIDE!
"Girls, breakfast is ready. Hurry down while it's hot!" exclaimed Mimsy.
Such commotion, one had not heard in a long time as little Mimsy girls everywhere began to gather around the long breakfast table. Papa said the blessing, and then biscuits were flying, as were the pancakes and oh, yes, syrup...plenty of syrup. Sausage and bacon were making the circle of plates just the perfect size for dainty girls. (Did I say "dainty???") Well, dainty most of the time. Today was business.......SNOW business. And that precluded "dainty."
After the table was cleared and all dishes washed and put away, the girls began their morning chores. Floors were swept with brooms made by Papa, and clothes were washed and if needed, mended by Mimsy. Towels were folded, furniture dusted, pets fed, and in general, the cottage made ready to greet the day.
"Because you've worked very diligently, you may now go play...
IN THE SNOW!!!" laughed Mimsy.
"And don't forget to dress warmly....hats and gloves!"
The girls were so thrilled. Papa got the toboggan ready and all the sleds. When the last little girl left, Mimsy thought, "Now, it's my turn." She disappeared into her wonderful craft room, built for her by Papa. Here she sewed, knitted, crocheted, embroidered, painted, fashioned things with clay, just to name a few. Here, she could turn her dreams into realities.
